100 sessions built into this page
I finished my Ironman after just 53 days of preparation. In that time, I swam only three types of sessions — the three that, as an endurance coach and personal trainer, I trust more than anything else. Below is the thinking behind each one, and a generator that builds you a session from that same system, scaled to whatever distance you need today.
With only 53 days to prepare for an Ironman, you don't get to waste sessions. So I stripped my swim training back to three types — three sessions that, together, cover everything a swimmer actually needs on the way to race day.
One builds your engine and your pacing in the same set — a pyramid, up and back down, so you learn to hold your form as fatigue rises. One is pure rehearsal for the long effort ahead — the swimming equivalent of a long run or a long ride: long, monotonous, unglamorous blocks at a comfortable, sustainable pace. One trains your mind — a deliberate swing between discomfort and control, so that if panic shows up in open water, it has somewhere to go besides your chest.
Every one of the 100 sessions below is built from those three pillars, scaled from a short 1,500m swim up to a full 4,000m long day. Nothing here is filler — it's the same system that got me to the finish line, just sized to wherever you are in your own build.
Every session the generator gives you is built from one of these three. Tap one to see how it works.
Set your target distance and pick a pillar — or let it choose. Every result is pulled from the 100 sessions built into this page.
